THE HOLY
FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH
The Feast of the Holy Family: We are reminded today that a holy family
will be a happy one because everything is based on God's will of love ...a
love that shows itself in patience, forgiveness and sincere gratitude. The
spirit of such a family will be the Spirit of God who brings peace. |

SOLEMNITY
OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, UNIVERSAL KING
Jesus, the Lord of all creation cared so much for those in his domain,
that he was willing to die, in order to care for them. Those who will
finally belong to him, will be those who have shared his care for the
hungry, the naked, the lost, the crippled and the strays of this world. |

THIRTY
THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
How often fear and anxiety prevent people from producing their best, from
using their God-given talents to the full. In today's parable Jesus shows
that a God who inspires fear may inspire little else. His image of God as a
loving father inspires confidence and so enables us to develop what he has
given us.. |

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Restorative Justice Week
We commemorate today not the dedication of a building but the reality for
which it stands - God's presence in the lives of his people gathered as a
community. The most perfect meeting-point between God and man took place in
Jesus Christ. We come to Church to deepen our share in that meeting. |

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Pharisees fault was not gratitude for doing good hut contempt for
those less successful, a lack of humility before the grace of God. Paul too
could boast and give thanks that he had kept the faith, but he recognised
that this had not been simply his own doing but because the Lord stood by
me. We too should thank God for any good we have been able to do. It is
with his help that we do it, and it gives us no grounds for complacency or a
sense of superiority. |

NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Mission Sunday
By its nature, the Church is missionary. Christ sent her to let her light
shine to the whole human race. We cannot leave this task to the
professionals. The prophets and the apostles were ordinary lay people when
chosen to speak and act in Gods name. As the result of our baptism, each of
us has a duty to work for the missions in our own special way and in our own
particular place. |

EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Emigrant Sunday
God promised his people a future of great blessings where death and mourning
would be no more. Christ came to issue Gods final invitation to this
future. Some rejected it, others accepted it but then made light of it. What
have we done with our invitation? |

love and patience - we are expected to produce the fruit of what we have
received. |

SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
It takes at least two to make a friendship. God loves us, but there is no
relationship between him and us unless we return his love. In this
relationship there can be no pretence nor living on the past. Our response
to God must continue every day to be real, just as his love for us is a
daily reality. |

FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Our human horizons are so limited! So often we calculate the cost of our
generosity giving only to the DESERVING afraid that our goodness may
be wasted. Our God is not limited. He takes the risk of his love being
wasted and it is only because of such love that we can have hope. |
