FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
It was through Our Ladys faith and perfect obedience to Gods will that Christ was born, the promised Emmanuel, God - with - us. God continues to be with us if we receive His Son in faith.

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
The coming of Christ brought joy to the world as He healed every sickness and overcame human deprivation. For those who suffer, the joy of Christ's first coming must be tempered by patience as they await their restoration at his Second Coming.

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Through the scriptures God has given us the hope of justice for the poor and a longing for peace and harmony among people. Christ came to fulfil that promise, but to receive it we must turn our lives away from everything that is sinful.

SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, UNIVERSAL KING
We belong to the rule of Christ who rules not by being served but by his service of people, a service so radical that it led to his death. The cross is Christs throne: on the cross he is lifted up and makes peace between God and humankind. Those who follow his rule of service will share in his kingdom of peace.

THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
As we come towards the end of the Churchs Year we are reminded of the end of all time. Before it comes there will be time of trial: for the believer who endures in faith the end will not bring condemnation but healing and life.

THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Christian hope overcomes the fear of death. God is faithful: not only does he strengthen us against evil in this life, but will give eternal life to all who try to imitate his faithfulness.

THIRTY FIST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
God is full of mercy: he waits patiently for our conversion. No matter how much we may have failed him, he still calls us and encourages us towards goodness.

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Pharisees fault was not gratitude for doing good hut contempt for those less successful, a lack of humility before the grace of God. Paul too could boast and give thanks that he had kept the faith, but he recognised that this had not been simply his own doing but because the Lord stood by me. We too should thank God for any good we have been able to do. It is with his help that we do it, and it gives us no grounds for complacency or a sense of superiority.

TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Mission Sunday
By its nature, the Church is missionary. Christ sent her to let her light shine to the whole human race. We cannot leave this task to the professionals. The prophets and the apostles were ordinary lay people when chosen to speak and act in Gods name. As the result of our baptism, each of us has a duty to work for the missions in our special way and in our own particular place.

TWENTY EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Day of Prayer for Emigrants
Eucharistic is the name that we give to our great act of worship; it is a name that means 'giving thanks.' Today's readings remind us that we owe God thanks not just for healing lepers two thousand years ago, but for blessing our lives with his love and restoring them with his forgiveness.

TWENTY SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Day for Life
Our faith is so often put to the test not just by intellectual doubts but by the difficulties of life. The paradox is that it is only faith that will bring us to life through these trials. It is only faith that allows us to see beyond what we give to what we have already been given by God himself.

TWENTY SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
One of the great preoccupations today is the maintenance of a high standard of living. Today's readings give us a prophetic warning -this life-style leads to complacency and indifference to the needs of the poor. Any such indifference can only earn us the condemnation of God whose mercy for the poor is linked to his judgement of the oppressed.

TWENTY FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Jesus lamented the fact that the 'children of light' are not as astute at doing good as the wicked are at looking after themselves. It may be that some of our ineffectiveness in doing good arises from a lack of total commitment to God. We cannot have it both ways; self- concerned and love of God don't mix.

TWENTY FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The joy in heaven over one repentant sinner explains why Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. God hates sin, but he loves the sinner. He is so full of pity that he is more anxious to give forgiveness than we are to ask for it.

JOHN THE BAPTIST
The Church celebrates only three birthdays in the liturgical year - that of Jesus on 25 December, that of Mary on 8 September, and that of John the Baptist on 24 June. Today we celebrate the birth of John - the one who announces the coming of the Saviour. The message of John the Baptist was a call to repentance. Preparing the 'way of the Lord' means repentance for us too.

ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
God is mercy unlimited - that is for those who are ready to turn from their sin to seek his love. Today's readings remind us that it is not God who limits his love. It is either our complacency or our fear which refuses to trust in so great a love.

CORPUS CHRISTI

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
The night before He died Jesus promised the gift of the Spirit to his disciples. God the Father sends the Spirit to keep the word of Christ and for those who keep that word there is the great promise of Christ's peace - being at home with the Father and the Son.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Part of the great revelation of the New Testament is the notion that God is coming among us to make all things new; that means removing all the causes of guilt and grief in human life. We show our acceptance of this renewal of our lives by our love for one another.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
(Vocations Sunday)
Like Paul and Barnabas, those whose vocation it is to preach the gospel, will meet opposition. Today we are encouraged by the thought that the Christ we serve knows his people intimately and promises them eternal life-no opposition can snatch them from the Father's love.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
Peter, who denied the Lord three times, three times, affirms his love. He learns that his share in the Lord's care for his people will one day bring him to the martyrdom of death - the early Church was founded on those who joyfully bore witness with their lives.

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
Divine Mercy Sunday

PASSION (PALM) SUNDAY
Jesus was tortured and humiliated by the pride and self-will of people. He accepted this fate so as to overcome human destructiveness. His humble attentiveness to God allows God's power to be active and recreative.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
Men and women are judged every day - often too quickly condemned by whispering calumny and over- righteous indignations. Today's gospel is a reminder that judgement belongs to God and not to human persons. We cannot expiate our own guilt by pointing the finger at others.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
The Parable of the Prodigal shows us the power of the Father's forgiving love. The elder brother thinks of himself, and is begrudging. How often do we begrudge God's goodness to others? How many of us 'seek to use our good works as a means of monopolising God's love for ourselves.

FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The vocation to serve God does not follow a standard pattern; it is as unique as the person who is called. It came for Isaiah while he was at prayer; it came for Peter in the middle of his work. For both men it meant a sense of unworthiness before the presence of God, but both learnt that the service of God does not spring from innate human goodness as much as from the forgiving power of God's love.

FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The messengers of God's truth have often had to suffer hostility and rejection. This is still part of the Church's fate today as it continues the work of the prophets. As we struggle for truth we are encouraged by the Lord's words to Jeremiah "I am with you to deliver you."

THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD
At his baptism Jesus was revealed as the Son of God and began his work of bringing the vision of God, his justice and his liberation to people. At our baptism each of us is given a share in this mission, so we become children of God.
