God had promised to bring about the transformation of this fallen world, the resurrection of the dead. The timing belongs to God. Our readings today show us two widows giving generously what they could hardly afford to give. Poverty need not lead to bitterness. It can lead to heroic generosity and courage. Such poor as these two widows, stand as a living condemnation of us who have so much. We give so little, as we watch the perpetuation of Injustice and poverty in our world. |

The heart of our faith and its practice, is contained in today�s readings. God is one and he is loved with all our being. We are to love our neighbour as ourselves. Both go together. Our faith in God and our love for him, informs our love for our neighbour and this in it�s turn, is the expression of our faith�love for God.

The giving of sight in today's gospel, might also be described as the confirmation of faith. Most of us have the faith to turn to Christ when we are in need, but our faith often has to survive the negative voices around us, that would make out that he is indifferent to our needs. We see him today as the Saviour, who cares for our immediate as well as our ultimate needs. |

Mission Sunday
By its nature, the Church is missionary. Christ sent her to let her light shine to the whole human race. We cannot leave this task to the professionals. The prophets and the apostles were ordinary lay people when chosen to speak and act in God�s name. As the result of our baptism, each of us has a duty to work for the missions in our special way and in our own particular place.

What a pity that for many the Trinity is just an intellectual puzzle! For the believer it is a sign of how close God has come to us by revealing (but not reducing) the mystery of his Being. He draws us into the mystery making us his children by the gift of the Spirit. |
