THE
HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH
The Feast of the Holy Family: We are reminded today that a holy family will be a happy one because everything is based on God's will of love
... a love that shows itself in patience, forgiveness and sincere gratitude. The spirit of such a family will be the Spirit of God who brings peace.

SOLEMNITY
OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, UNIVERSAL KING
We belong to the rule of Christ who rules not by being served but by his service of people, a service so radical that it led to his death. The cross is Christs throne: on the cross he is lifted up and makes peace between God and humankind. Those who follow his rule of service will share in his kingdom of peace.

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Mission Sunday
By its nature, the Church is missionary. Christ sent her to let her light shine to the whole human race. We cannot leave this task to the professionals. The prophets and the apostles were ordinary lay people when chosen to speak and act in Gods name. As the result of our baptism, each of us has a duty to work for the missions in our special way and in our own particular place.

NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The enemies of Jesus try to put him on the horns of a dilemma. Would he offend the Roman occupiers or the sensitive Jewish nationalism? Jesus rises above the situation by reminding them, that God is the supreme authority but yet we all have duties to the civic society in which we live. |

EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Eucharistic is the name that we give to our great act of worship; it is a name that means 'giving thanks.' Today's readings remind us that we owe God thanks not just for healing lepers two thousand years ago, but for blessing our lives with his love and restoring them with his forgiveness.

SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Day for Life
Our faith is so often put to the test not just by intellectual doubts but by the difficulties of life. The paradox is that it is only faith that will bring us to life through these trials. It is only faith that allows us to see beyond what we give to what we have already been given by God himself.

SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
One of the great preoccupations today is the maintenance of a high standard of living. Today's readings give us a prophetic warning
this life style leads to complacency and indifference to the needs of the poor. Any such indifference can only earn us the condemnation of God whose mercy for the poor is linked to his judgement of the oppressed.

FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Jesus lamented the fact that the 'children of light' are not as astute at doing good as the wicked are at looking after themselves. It may be that some of our ineffectiveness in doing good arises from a lack of total commitment to God. We cannot have it both ways; self- concerned and love of God don't mix.

The joy in heaven over one repentant sinner explains why Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. God hates sin, but he loves the sinner. He is so full of pity that he is more anxious to give forgiveness than we are to ask for it.

THE
FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The vocation to serve God does not follow a standard pattern; it is as unique as the person who is called. It came for Isaiah while he was at prayer; it came for Peter in the middle of his work. For both men it meant a sense of unworthiness before the presence of God, but both learnt that the service of God does not spring from innate human goodness as much as from the forgiving power of God's love. |
