THE
HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH
The Feast of the Holy Family: We are reminded today that a holy family will be a happy one because everything is based on God's will of love...a love that shows itself in patience, forgiveness and sincere gratitude. The spirit of such a family will be the Spirit of God who brings peace. |

SOLEMNITY
OF CHRIST THE KING
The kingship of Christ, is not to be seen in terms of any kind of political control or domination. It is not of this world. His rule comes from obedience to the Father and total service of people, unto death. It is the power of God over death and evil, promised to all who commit themselves in faith to him. |

THIRTY
THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
Some of the images in today's readings, may appear incomprehensible to many but they give us hope. God had promised to bring about the transformation of this fallen world, the resurrection of the dead. The timing belongs to God. Our part is to live in hope, through the difficulties of our life and history. |

SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
Dedication of Lateran Basilica
We commemorate today not the dedication of a building but the reality for which it stands - God's presence in the lives of his people gathered as a community. The most perfect meeting-point between God and man took place in Jesus Christ. We come to Church to deepen our share in that meeting. |

THIRTIETH
WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
The giving of sight in today's gospel, might also be described as the confirmation of faith. Most of us have the faith to turn to Christ when we are in need, but our faith often has to survive the negative voices around us, that would make out that he is indifferent to our needs. We see him today as the Saviour, who cares for our immediate as well as our ultimate needs. |

TWENTY
NINTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
By its nature, the Church is missionary. Christ sent her to let her light shine to the whole human race. We cannot leave this task to the professionals. The prophets and the apostles were ordinary lay people when chosen to speak and act in Gods name. As the result of our baptism, each of us has a duty to work for the missions in our own special way and in our own particular place.

EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
He who seeks wisdom and eternal life, is reminded, that no earthly value can be compared to them. We may agree that all gold is but a little sand before the realities of God, but are we able to follow through this image with the reality of our living? Are we really ready, to sell what ever we have and give it to the poor, so as to follow Christ? |

The original relationship of man and woman in marriage was to be that of perfect union, a union brought about by God himself. In today's gospel, Jesus restates this ideal understanding of marriage and calls for it to be taken seriously. |

The ways of God cannot be confined within the limits of narrow human ideas. We must be ready to see his Spirit working in unexpected places, we must never be closed to the goodness in others. At the same time we must be ready to turn drastically away from the evil in ourselves. |

SIXTH
SUNDAY OF EASTER
'What is truth?' asked Pilate. Many people today would rather ask, 'What is love?' We find the answer not in ourselves but only in God. He loves us in giving us his Son. His Son loves us in giving up his life for his friends. This is God's love and we are called to imitate it. |

It is difficult for us to accept suffering as part of God's plan. Today we are reminded that it was part of his plan for the Messiah. It was a suffering that he transformed by raising him from the dead. Jesus is this Risen Lord, in him our weakness and our sins are

In the person of Jesus, God enters his Temple, unrecognised by most but welcomed by Simeon and Anna, both people of prayer.
